Get started today!

Thanks for registering for the Traffic Tamer App Challenge by Ford Motor Company! We’re very much looking forward to seeing how your software applications can help reduce congestion on London's streets.

Potential participants: read on and kick off your submission today! Apps are due January 15, 2014.

Quick-start guide

  1. Get inspired. Explore app ideas. If you're creating a brand new app, play around with Ford's OpenXC platform, an open source API to your car that runs on a combination of Arduino and Android. (No specific API, SDK, or data integration is required in this competition, however, the use of Ford's OpenXC platform is encouraged.)

  2. Brainstorm. If you've ever driven in London, you know how frustrating and expensive the experience can be. How can you help change that? What apps can you create for drivers that might help reduce congestion? Could an app that "talk" to a car's sensors add value to London drivers? What about better public transit or parking? Or perhaps that brilliant idea that you've been mulling over?

  3. Choose your platform(s). We’re accepting apps that run on Android, Blackberry, iOS, Windows Phone smartphones/tablets, web/mobile web browsers, or Windows/Mac desktop computers.

  4. Start your draft today. Begin filling out your application now so that you don't feel rushed as the deadline approaches. Even if you don't have all the details yet, you can choose the "Save as Draft" option and come back to it later.

  5. Enter an existing app, or start building one today.

Earn prizes, recognition, and exposure

Your app will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges featuring leaders in tech, transport, academia, and venture capital. The most innovative traffc-taming apps will be in the running to win a share of $25,000 in cash & prizes.
